Rose Studies: Watercolors & Drawings

Some of the artwork in this gallery was on display in solo exhibitions at the Horticultural Society of New York (June 9 – 30, 2010), the San Francisco Botanical Garden (January 3 – April 30, 2011), and Giorni delle Rose at Villa Fidelia, Spello, Italy (May 2015). A catalogue of the exhibition is available for purchase.
This is an ongoing project to document species and hybrid roses through watercolor portraits, plus companion annotated drawings and color samples assembled in informal collages. I work directly with live plants and revisit the roses at different times of the year to capture their development through the seasonal cycle.
